Cinema Club

A club for people who love cinema and enjoy being part of a like-minded audience watching movies worth seeing.

In 2025 we watched four contrasting films on the theme of espionage.  Feedback from members was clear.  Much though they loved Richard Burton in The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, enjoyed the masterly Bridge of Spies and lived every nail biting moment with George Smiley in Tinker Tailor, far and away the most impressive for our members was The Lives of Others, a prizewinning Austrian film from 2006.

From January to April 2026 we saw four films selected to challenge everyone’s idea of what makes a feelgood movie.  Opinions differ, it’s a matter of personal taste in the end.  But, again, the Club Team saw a clear winner as far as our members were concerned.  Hands down triumph, Powell & Pressburger’s romantic idealism won the day, with their 1945 I Know Where I’m Going.  Members gasped and chortled their way through that one, even when Torquil the Eagle ate that rabbit.

Next season, Autumn 2026, we will be taking to crime.  Check out  upcoming films for updates.
