The Duke
Thursday 3rd December 7 00pm
In 1961 Goya’s portrait of the Duke of Wellington was stolen from the National Gallery. It had only been there for a few weeks. British authorities suspected the worst, clearly an international criminal mastermind had stolen our national treasure. It was lost for four and a half years, then turned up again. Where? In the back of a wardrobe.
Who took it? How? “We grabbed it and ran.”
